Who doesn’t love a simple dinner recipe? That’s exactly what this is a an easy, flavor packed pasta recipe that is easy to make. I love pasta dishes made with shrimp; like this Shrimp Scampi recipe. Of course you could just skip the pasta and make only shrimp like this Garlic Parmesan Shrimp that’s read in just minutes. You could skip the shrimp and try this Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta.

How to make Lemon Garlic Parmesan Shrimp Pasta:

(Scroll down for full recipe.)

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp (large or medium sized, uncooked)
  • Linguine
  • Lemons or Lemon Juice
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Parsley
  • Olive Oil
  • Butter
  • Salt and Pepper

Ingredients needed to make this pasta recipe presented on a large wood cutting board.

Directions:

  1. Prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet heat olive oil then melt two tablespoons of butter.
  3. Add onion and cook until tender and slightly translucent. Add garlic and cook stirring frequently until fragrant, about two minutes.
  4. Next add the Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes and cook for about a minute.
  5. Place the raw shrimp in the skillet, season with salt and pepper, then toss in the onion and seasoning mixture. Cook until shrimp is pink and forms a “c” shape.
  6. Transfer the prepared pasta to the skillet add in the remaining butter, parsley, and grated parmesan cheese. Add lemon juice and toss together until the butter and cheese are melted.
  7. Warm over medium heat until heated through. Garnish with cracked pepper and more grated parmesan cheese.

Substitutions and Variations:

Add Some Veggies:  Try adding som green peas, chopped asparagus, mushrooms or even broccoli.

Give It More Protein: Looking for ways to add more protein to your diet? You can add some cooked chicken, sausage, or even other types of seafood to give this pasta dish as much protein as you like.

Swap The Pasta: Linguine is a great choice because the flat noodles help the sauce to stick to the pasta. Farfalle pasta, also known as “bow-tie pasta”, is another good choice for this recipe. However, you can use any pasta you have on hand. You can also use Zucchini noodles, Zoodles, for a healthier choice.

Notes and Tips:

I recommend using large shrimp that has been deveined to make this recipe. Large or even extra large shrimp seems to be the best choice to accompany the pasta. If you can choose tail-on or tail-off. Shrimp with the tail removed will be easier for families with children.

Reserve a couple tablespoons of the water from the pasta before draining it from the pot.  Then add it back to the pasta when you add it to the skillet. The starch from the water will help the lemon parmesan sauce to adhere to the pasta when you toss it all together.

What is the best way to quickly thaw shrimp?

The easiest and safest ways to thaw shrimp quickly is to place the frozen shrimp in a colander then submerge it into a bowl of cold water. Allow the shrimp stand in water for 10-15 minutes or until thawed completely.

Storing Leftovers:

Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat single portions in the microwave in 45 seconds increments stirring between each.

This dish looks so light and fresh! We’ve got loads of shrimp and pasta noodles leftover from other recipes. This would be something new and different to try and use up all those ingredients. It sounds delicious. Anytime lemon and pasta get together, I’m in! 🙂
