Now that the warmer weather is here I’m dreaming about grilling steaks, burgers and chicken. More importantly I’m dreaming about the side dishes I want to make to go with all my grilled favorites.

This Five Bean Salad  with White Wine Vinaigrette is perfect for anything you make on the grill. It goes beautifully with chicken, steak and even burgers. Heck we even love it with sandwiches.

How to make Five Bean Salad:

You will need:

  • Green Beans
  • Garbanzo Beans
  • Cannellini Beans
  • Pinto Beans
  • Dark Red Kidney Beans
  • Whole Kernel Corn
  • Red Onion
  • White Wine Vinegar
  • Olive Oil
  • Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper

White Wine Vinegar is usually found it  on the aisle with the regular white vinegar. This version has a slightly sweet flavor. If you can’t find white wine you can exchange it for Red Wine Vinegar which is more common. This is a 1:1 exchange both have similar flavors the red is slightly bolder.

Instructions:

Begin with dicing a cup of red onion the set it aside.

Next open each of the cans of beans and the corn and pour them into a colander and rinse. I’ve written about why it is best to rinse canned beans in this post for Easy Red Beans and Rice.

After you’ve drained and rinsed the beans and it’s time to make the vignette. I recommend using a large bowl so you don’t have to worry about making a mess while you stir all the beans around.

In bowl combine olive oil with the white wine vinegar and a little sugar. Then stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Next transfer the beans, corn and onion into he vinaigrette and toss until well coated.

Refrigerate for and hour before serving. This salad is best served chilled.

Can I make Five Bean Salad in advance?

Yes! You can totally make this salad in advance. I think this salad is best served fresh so I don’t recommend making it more than 24 hours in advance.

How long will bean salad last?

Stored in an air tight container bean salad will remain fresh for 3-5 days in your refrigerator.

Happy Cooking Y’all!
