These Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are super easy to make. In fact they are fool proof. How do I know? There’s a secret. They are made from a boxed cake mix.

You read that right, this chocolate chip cookie bar recipe started from a cake mix.

Now maybe you knew you could make make cookies from a cake mix, or maybe you didn’t but I’m here to tell you that you can and they are delish!

How do you easily cut cookie bars?

Begin by removing the uncut bars from from the pan. Then Use a large sharp chef’s knife when cutting cookie bars. Before cutting the baked dough into bars cool completely. You can do this by placing the pan in the refrigerator for an hour before cutting.

Another method is to dip the knife in hot water before making the cut, the wiping off the knife before repeating the process for each slice.

How do you evenly cut cookie bars?

To cut cookie bars into even squares you will need a clean ruler and a knife. For a 9×13 you can easily cut 16 bars by making four cuts horizontally and four cut vertically. To make sure your lines are straight follow your knife along the side of the ruler.

To make these Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars begin by pouring a box of yellow cake mix, instant vanilla pudding mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs and chocolate chips in a large bowl. Combine ingredients together either by hand or with a mixer on low for two minutes.

Once you’ve mixed the batter spread it out evenly in a greased 9×13 cake pan. Place into a preheated oven and bake for 20 to 30 minutes.

These cookie bars are soft and gooey. If you would prefer a crunchier bar you can bake them five to ten minutes longer. If you choose to bake them longer be sure to keep an eye on the oven.

Follow my tips above for cutting the bars, serve and enjoy!

Happy Cooking Y’all!
