Ultimate Italian Sliders

These Ultimate Italian Sliders are a mini-version of the classic grinder sandwich. Made with layer of deli meats and cheeses and topped with a great tangy sandwich sauce. All of it loaded on sweet bread. These flavors will have them begging for more every time!

Ingredients

For the Sliders

  • 1 small tomato thinly sliced
  • 1/2 small sweet onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound sliced deli pepperoni
  • 1/4 pound sliced genoa salami
  • 1/4 cup sliced Capocollo
  • 1/4 cup sliced Soppressata
  • 2 cups Creamy Italian Dressing

For Optional Homemade Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated romano cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice fresh squeezed
  • 1.5 teaspoons fresh garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh chopped basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

For the Sliders:

  1. Add the sliced tomatoes and onions to a medium-sized bowl, add about 2-3 tablespoons of the dressing, and gently toss to combine.
  2. In another medium-sized bowl, add the shredded lettuce and add 1-2 more tablespoons of the dressing to your taste; toss to combine.
  3. Cut the rolls in half. With the bottom cut side up, add some of the dressing and smooth it out.
  4. Add the provolone, pepperoni, salami, Capocollo, and Soppressata on top.
  5. Add the tomatoes and onions, followed by the lettuce.
  6. Top with the other side of the rolls.
  7. Cut into individual sliders with a serrated knife and serve immediately.

For the Optional Homemade Sauce:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, olive oil, white wine vinegar, parmesan cheese, Romano cheese, lemon juice, garlic, honey, basil, parsley, oregano, onion powder, and thyme.
  2. Follow the directions as stated above replacing the Creamy Italian Dressing
