Fifteen Minute Marinara Sauce

A quick homemade Marinara Sauce that's great for pasta, pizza, and breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 28 oz can petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh garlic minced or 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red peper flakes optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. This sauce is a little chunky if you prefer a smoother sauce pout the can of diced tomatoes in the food processor or blender and pulse until desired consistency.
  2. In a large skillet warm the EVOO over medium heat and turn until bottom of skillet is coated.
  3. Add garlic to skillet and cook until fragrant and golden brown 1-2 minutes. (if using garlic powder skip this step)
  4. Pour diced tomatoes, tomato paste into skillet, stir until mixed

  5. Add Italian seasoning, thyme, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper stir until well combined
  6. Cover skillet with lid slightly off set so steam can escape and allow to simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally
