Brownie Pie is an easy from scratch dessert that combines the rich, chocolatey, goodness of homemade brownies with a flaky pie crust and the result is so delicious that you’ll make again and again!

When it comes to dessert I have two rules: desserts are made for sharing and chocolate reigns supreme. Chocolate desserts like this Old Fashioned Chocolate Pie or a simple easy to make cake like this Chocolate Turtle Poke Cake are some of my personal favorites.

How do you make a Brownie Pie?

What you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • Refrigerated Pie Crust
  • Unsweetened Chocolate
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Vanilla extract
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Salt

Equipment:

  • Pie plate
  • Pie crust shield or aluminum foil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a medium sauce pan over low heat melt the butter, then add chocolate stirring until it is completely melted.
  3. Remove mixture from heat and stir in sugar.
  4. Add flour, eggs, vanilla and salt then stir until well combined.
  5. Next pour chocolate chips and stir until melted and incorporated.
  6. Spread mixture into pie crust. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove the pie shields after baking for about 15-20 minutes so the crust will become a golden brown.
  7. Cool pie completely before slicing.

What is a pie shield?

Pie shields are aluminum or silicone crust protectors used when baking a pie to keep the crust from over-browning. For the perfect pie crust, place the shield over the crust before baking. Then remove it about 15 minutes before the pie is done. Pie shields are easy to find. There are even lots of choice on Amazon.

Don’t have a pie shield?

An alternative is to fold foil over the edge of the crust to keep from burning. Taste of home as an excellent tutorial for how to do this and I’m linking it here for you: How To Make A Pie Crust Shield.

Top it off:

This pie is fabulous without any toppings BUT why hold back? Life is short make the pie a la mode!

Topping suggestions:

  • Whipped Cream
  • Ice Cream
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Strawberries
  • Rasberries
  • Confectioner’s Sugar

My tips for this recipe:

Bake the pie in a hot oven:

Preheat your oven for about 20 minutes before putting the pie into bake. This will allow the oven to heat evenly. Have a hot oven when baking (unless the recipe says start from a cold oven) is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure baking success.

How to store and reheat:

Store pie in a tightly covered dish at room temperature for up to seven days. To reheat this pie place it in a 300 degree oven for 7-10 minutes watching closely to prevent the crust from burning.

This pie is great for holidays, weekends, weeknight desserts, and potlucks. Really, this pie is perfect anytime. I might be eating a piece right now I type this post. Ok I am, it’s so good I couldn’t wait another minute.

Happy Baking Y’all!
