These Bacon, Ranch and Cheddar Chicken Sandwiches combine cream cheese, cheddar, ranch seasoning and bacon then piled high on a bun to make then best sandwich that’s always a crowd pleaser whether it’s a weeknight dinner or a party.
I’ve heard these sandwiches called Crack Chicken Sandwiches because the combination of cheddar, cream cheese, bacon and ranch are so good they are addicting. This isn’t the first time I’ve shared a recipe with these flavors with y’all. Check out my recipe for Chicken Bacon Ranch Wraps.
One of the things I love about this recipe that the chicken is shredded that can be served in on buns like this Crispy Chicken Sandwich or Classic Chicken Salad or on a tortilla like these Instant Pot Chicken Caesar Wraps.
How to make Bacon Ranch and Cheddar Chicken Sandwiches:
Ingredients:
- Chicken Breasts
- Ranch Seasoning
- Cream Cheese
- Bacon
- Cheddar Cheese
- Green Onions, optional
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions:
- Place the cream cheese on the counter to soften, while the cream cheese is softening cook the bacon
- Cook bacon in a large non-stick skillet until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate. When bacon is cooled crumble into small pieces.
- Cook chicken breast using the method of your choice. I used the instant pot because it is quick and convenient. See my notes for instant pot instructions. Once chicken breast are shredded set them aside while you make the cream cheese mixture.
- In a mixing bowl stir together the softened cream cheese, Ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon until just combined.
- Add the chicken to the cream cheese mixture and fold it in until well combined.
- Serve on buns, tortillas or lettuce leaves. Garnish with scallions if desired.
Substitutions and Variations:
Cheesy Goodness. Swap the sharp cheddar for mild cheddar or even a Colby Monterey Jack cheese mixture.
Chicken thighs. You can swap the three chicken breasts for six boneless skinless chicken thighs.
Salt with Seasoning Salt. For add flavor you can use a 1/2 tablespoon seasoning salt, such as Lawry’s Seasoning Salt, in place of regular salt.
Homemade Ranch Seasoning. You can use a store bought packet of ranch dressing mix or use two tablespoons of Homemade Ranch Mix.
Notes and Tips:
- Use full fat cream cheese! When the amount of milk fat is in reduced it adds moisture to the cream cheese. Using reduced fat cream cheese will give the chicken a soggy texture and prevent the shredded chicken from staying together.
- If you need to soften the cream cheese quickly you can remove the it from the box and wrapper then pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds.
- You can use an electric or stand mixer to shred the chicken if you don’t want to do it by hand. Just place the chicken in a bowl and turn on the mixer. Once all the chicken is shredded stop the mixer. Be careful to not over do it with the mixer!
Serving Suggestions:
I’ve shown this Bacon Ranch Chicken mixture on a bun but there are several way you can serve it:
Make it a wrap. Use a flour tortilla spoon some of mixture on to the tortilla and roll it up. Make it a low carb by using a whole wheat low carb tortilla!
Serve it on lettuce. Use large Romain lettuce leaves to make a quick “taco” wash and pat the lettuce dry with a paper towel. Scoop your desired amount on the the leaf and enjoy!
Serve with crackers. You can simply enjoy this Bacon Ranch Chicken as it is or spread it on crackers. Served like this makes a delicious appetizer for a party!
Stuffed potatoes. Serve this creamy chicken salad over a fluffy baked potato for a easy dinner or a great way to use any leftovers.
Storage:
Refrigerator: Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridgefor up to three days.
Reheat: This is good cold but If you prefer to reheat it do so in the microwave in 45 second increments, stirring between each until heated through.
Happy Cooking Y’all!
