Southern Style Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. of elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 1/2 cups of milk
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare elbow pasta according to package directions
  2. Over medium heat melt butter in a saucepan
  3. Add flour, mustard, and garlic powder to melted butter and whisk for two minutes
  4. Slowly add in milk to to pot
  5. Whisk until smooth (about 10 minutes)
  6. Remove from heat and add cup and a half of cheese, stirring until melted
  7. In a three quart baking dish combine pasta and cheese sauce (stir if needed)
  8. Top with remainder of cheese
  9. Bake for 25 minutes at 375 degrees
